Day 3 and he’s off…

Posted by Louise on May 18, 2010 in Family Updates

definitely picking up speed…

I’m going to have a toddler on my hands before I know it…

Lucas will be 8 months old on the 22nd and I’m still wondering how that happened!?! He’s trying to talk and we’re getting lots of dadada’s and bababa’s… still he said mummy at 4 months old so I win! lol

He’s also a great eater and will give anything a go, in fact he’s only refused one thing since he started on solids and that was because he was sick. Now if only we can get him sleeping through the night. The last few nights have been shocking but we’ve started him on Tart Cherry juice. It’s wonderful stuff for everything from inflammation to sleep issues so we’re hoping that in a few days we might get our first sleep through the night (or close enough to it) in months. Keep you posted…

It’s been one of those days…

Posted by Louise on May 18, 2010 in Family Updates, Scrapbooking

No you haven’t stumbled on Nic H’s blog… but I can relate. It HAS been one of those days. One of those weeks actually.

Lukey’s been vomiting on and off for about 3 days and I’ve managed to get NOTHING done so I’ve been totally stressed trying to catch up. Oh well… the good news is that the little guy is on the mend, so now we just need him to sleep at night! He’s been shocking the last few nights, very unsettled and getting us up every half hour or so, if it’s a tooth I wish it would just come through already. He does this and then gets me up usually between 5-6am. I’m not a bird. I don’t ‘do’ dawn. Fingers crossed he comes right soon.

Sooo to continue on I got my layout back from Scrapbook Creations the other day, it’s in the top 10 part of the issue on sale now (issue 78). Love being published, bit of a shame the layout was turned on it’s side (doesn’t matter as I accidently stuck the photo on upside down anyway lol)… but it happens and I’m still happy to be in the magazine with this layout:

The gallery is for things that shimmer and there’s lots of details that don’t get picked up by the camera. :)

There’s also a double pager on my work for Twiddleybitz on pages 10 and 11 with full instructions on how I’ve created them :) very cool to be featured like that!!

We had a garage sale last Saturday, managed to get rid of some stuff and donated a lot to the Hospice shop too. We decided beforehand whatever didn’t go at the sale was getting given, so we did. I’ve still got a tonne of stuff to list on Trade Me as well but I can finally see some spaces around the house ;)

Lucas is growing fast and showing a fondness for all things he shouldn’t be touching, like my scrapping ribbons…

Yes it’s blurry, he’s constantly moving and yep, HE’S CRAWLING!! He finally figured it out a couple of days ago so it’s time to lock up everything!

We took the boys to Chipmunks the other day too and Lukey had a ride on the wee ferris wheel thingy, he was a bit scared but still did the ‘no hands’ bit.

Yep another crappy photo, hanging out for my DSLR camera that Santa’s bringing me ;)

And finally a wee $2 shop find that’s brought endless giggles in the house (Neen if you’re reading this I saw the pic of your nephew)… :)

oops here comes the thunder… better get the washing in!

Working on my dream…

Posted by Louise on Apr 26, 2010 in Family Updates, Scrapbooking

It’s been a busy few days, nothing too exciting but we did go to Mairangi Bay Park yesterday (ANZAC Day). It was gorgeous autumn weather and everyone was out enjoying it, nice to see lots of families out having fun together – isn’t that what the Anzac’s fought for?

So we took Joshie’s bike, he’s only had it a couple of months and hasn’t ridden it much but I can see it being taken out with us a lot more often now. This kid is going to be able to achieve whatever he sets his mind to, just look at the determination on his face!

Lukey was his usual laid back self, chomping on a rusk under the shade of a tree in the sunshine…

He was happy just to watch the kids play and have cuddles. He’s teething big time at the mo but is such a little trooper that he doesn’t get too whingy with it, gotta love that!

They say what you put out into the universe comes back to you ten fold, and I’d have to say I’d believe it. A few weeks back I did a RAK and Sonya was the lucky winner. Well look what the courier delivered to me on Friday:

I was completely overwhelmed and my favourite thing is this:

a stunning handmade journal. I got all teary when I saw it as it’s just so beautiful and I know the work and thoughts that went into making it for me. I’m a sentimental sod but I just love it so much. She also sent a lovely card she’d made and also made one for Joshie that he could colour in (how thoughtful is that!?!) along with a sticker book (which he was so excited about) and 2 packets of choccie buttons that didn’t last long enough to be photographed. Thank you so much Sonya, you’re amazing :)

Ok, something to share. Well I wasn’t going to tell everyone that I’ve decided to apply for the Prima DT but then I thought why not? If they want me on their team I’ll be there like a shot but if not, then I’ve nothing to be embarrassed about by applying but not making the cut and I figure at least I’ll have tried. So I’ve been playing with their gorgeous stuff (what torture – NOT!)… lol… and did this one using a whole lot of Prima goodness along with the Storybook cartridge and my Cricut (which has had a dusting off since Christmas and is probably now over-utilised!)… I can see some new blade purchases coming…

I’ve got a couple of other things I’m working on at the moment too, so stay tuned for more reveals!

If you’re free in September don’t forget to book your place at Megan’s Retreat in Auckland, spaces are filling fast and we’re almost 75% booked already. I’m teaching a very cool Twiddleybitz layout class and Leanne has something rather special for everyone so don’t miss out!!

I should have been a boy…

Posted by Louise on Apr 12, 2010 in Family Updates

I don’t ‘do’ pink. I don’t wear high heels (even if I was short I wouldn’t). I don’t do much in the way of makeup. I hate having my hair done. I have 2 handbags – one backpack and one purse type. I have a pair of slippers, 2 pairs of slipon sneakers, a pair of jandals and a pair of boots. That’s it.

So when I saw ‘dogfight’ on the What’s on in Auckland guide yesterday I wanted to go, despite having a horrible cold. Now in dogfight I’m not talking about the woof variety, that’s disgusting… this is what we went to see… Ok so we didn’t go to see Joshie pointing but he was pretty excited about being at the gun emplacements with the tunnels (although we didn’t go through them as he was being naughty and wouldn’t stay with us!)…

So we sat around on North Head for half an hour in the sun, waiting for it to start… and it did :) … see the flames from the sea? anti-aircraft type of stuff happening as the warcraft did spins etc over Mission Bay Beach. We were on the other side and it looks more distant that it actually was, but it was very cool.

They even managed to shoot one down (almost but it was really well done!)

It didn’t last long and anyone who wasn’t aware it was happening would’ve been wondering what the hell was going on and thinking we were under attack. It was all in the name of promoting the new miniseries The Pacific on TV tonight… good fun!

So nice to have had an afternoon in the sun, definitely a perk up for a sick chook.
